Gran Malbec — Bonomo & Montiel

Gran Malbec

100% Malbec
Vineyard
Altamira, Valle de Uco / Barrancas, Maipú
Ageing
24 months in 500 L French oak barrels
Cellaring
Over 10 years
Appearance
Great colour intensity, with deep violet notes.
Nose
Red fruit recalling violets. Primary aromas of black fruit —blackberry, blackcurrant and blueberry— with hints of vanilla and cocoa from the oak.
Palate
Fresh, with a long, persistent body from the perfect balance of French oak ageing. Full-bodied and robust, with a strong tannic structure.

Winemaker's note

It is a terroir blend that brings out the virtues of two areas with our own stamp. One vineyard is in Altamira, at 1,200 m a.s.l., on alluvial soil with limestone; the other is our estate in Barrancas, at 750 m, on the bed of the Mendoza river, with sandy, stony soil. In both we select balanced rows, with a thin canopy and no more than one or two bunches per shoot. We work with indigenous yeasts and let the malolactic happen naturally. It rests 24 months in 500 and 225 litre barrels, then a year in bottle.

Chardonnay — Bonomo & Montiel

Chardonnay

100% Chardonnay
Vineyard
Los Árboles, Valle de Uco
Ageing
8 months / 50% in stainless steel and 50% in new 500 L French oak barrels
Cellaring
5 to 7 years
Appearance
Greenish yellow tones.
Nose
Intense, with fresh tropical fruit recalling mainly passion fruit and pineapple.
Palate
It shows its varietal character, and we also find passion fruit.

Winemaker's note

Looking for a Chardonnay with different notes we arrived at this vineyard, in the heart of the oldest district of Tupungato: La Arboleda, at 1,060 m a.s.l., with a good southern slope. The wide temperature range lets the fruit ripen more slowly. We work only one sector of the plot, differently from the rest. It is picked in the early morning and whole-bunch pressed under an inert atmosphere. Half the must ferments in stainless steel and the other half in new 500 litre barrels; before bottling we look for the best blend, usually half and half.

Rosé — Bonomo & Montiel

Rosé

85% Malbec / 15% Cabernet Franc
Vineyard
Altamira, Valle de Uco
Ageing
8 months in 225 L barrels
Cellaring
5 to 7 years
Appearance
An attractive onion-skin colour.
Nose
High aromatic intensity: aromas of pear and spice.
Palate
An elegant, soft wine, with a persistent finish of balanced acidity.

Winemaker's note

It comes from the co-fermentation of 85% Malbec and 15% Cabernet Franc, from a vineyard in Altamira at 1,200 m a.s.l. It is picked early, with alcohol no higher than 13 degrees and a marked acidity that gives it longevity. The must is racked into 225 litre second use barrels, where it both ferments and rests for eight months. We let the malolactic run to the halfway point: that gives more texture on the palate and, with the natural acidity, brings sweetness to the final wine.

Authors' letter
We believe every wine reflects our own history, a journey that began in 2001 and has evolved along with the trends and our own learning. The Conexiones series captures that shift: a balance between the robust, concentrated wines of our first vintages and the freshness and acidity that set the contemporary pulse today. In Serie Conexiones, scarcity becomes an accessible luxury.
